Abacus Staff

Sarah Morrison

Managing Director and Agent

Sarah studied Musical Theatre and Classical Acting at Mountview Theatre School graduating with a BA (Hons) in 2003. She has appeared in numerous amateur and professional productions on stage, having spent her formative years performing in Youth Theatre groups and taking private dance, singing and drama lessons. Since completing her education, Sarah has worked on stage and behind the scenes of professional productions, touring companies and pantomimes, as well as directing for many amateur societies. In 2009 Sarah started her own production company which has produced three successful shows to date. Sarah has also directed many youth productions along with holding theatre workshops and private drama lessons for under 21’s. Having been in the industry since a very young age, Sarah is thrilled to be able to use her skills to help launch young careers and help build on those already established.

Charles Huke

Agent Assistant

Charles is a Classics graduate from the University of Leeds, and on leaving full time education worked in the Civil Service and events. He met Sarah and Melissa whilst taking part in various theatrical productions and was brought into Abacus to help cover during Sarah’s pregnancy. Fortunately it went so well that he joined on permanently!

Melissa Cox

Agent Assistant

Melissa has worked at Abacus since 2012. She studied at the BRIT School and has a diploma from The London School of Musical Theatre. She has been performing from a very young age with a varied CV including credits such as the West End, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, pantomime, voice work, feature films and television commercials. She also has extensive knowledge and experience behind the scenes including Stage Management. Having this experience Melissa has a great knowledge, especially in Musical Theatre.

Jackie Huke

Accounts

Despite being a qualified teacher of English and Drama, Jackie spent most of her salaried life as a retail manager, both in the UK and Asia Pacific.  While based in Hong Kong she produced several large scale shows – including the annual pantos at the Hong Kong Arts Centre.  Back in the UK in 2004 with two young children to indoctrinate with the joy of theatre she happened upon Kenley Holiday Workshop, the wonderful youth theatre group of which she is now a director and the treasurer. It was here she met Sarah, at that time the group’s stage manager. Now, years later, Sarah directs KHW’s summer show and Jackie holds the purse strings – so it seemed obvious that she should come on board to control them for Abacus too.
